Blood Borne Viruses

• Explain what Blood-Borne Viruses are
• Recognise and identify the different Blood-Borne Viruses
• Explain how Blood-Borne Viruses are transmitted, spread and routes of transmission
• Explain how to dispose of contaminated objects and Blood-Borne Viruses
• Explain how to prevent the spread of infection of Blood Borne Viruses

Understand the up to date hand washing procedures

• Explain the role of hand washing for the prevention of control of infection
• Identify the appropriate resources and facilities required for correct hand washing
• Identify when individuals are advised to wash their hands
• Describe the recommended procedure for hand washing
• State the advantages and limitations of hand sanitisers

Understand how the use of personal protective equipment can prevent the spread of infection

Qualification Information

The Confederation of International Beauty Therapy and Cosmetology (CIBTAC) was established in 1977 as the education arm of The British Association of Beauty Therapy and Cosmetology (BABTAC). We are a not-for-profit organisation, continually reinvesting our income for the benefit of our accredited Centres and their Learners.

On successful completion of the course you will receive a Study at Home completion certificate which you can download. If you require a hard copy of the certificate the cost is £25.00 (UK only).

Alternatively you can sit an online theory test with CIBTAC to receive a recognised qualification.

You will need to register with CIBTAC if you are not already a member in order to take the online exam, and the cost is £30.00

The cost of the CIBTAC online exam is £50 and exams are held frequently.

Method of Assessment

The course has a series of multi-choice questions and one final assignment of around 300 words.
